Miss Warm Springs
Contestant General Rules/Information


Contestant General Rules:

  1. Any girl must be 18 to 24 years of age, as long as the girl reaches the age of 18 before the Miss Warm Springs Pageant. She must never have been married, cohabitating or have dependents.
  2. She must be a member of the Warm Springs Confederated Tribes, and a resident of the reservation for at least one year.
  3. She must retain residency of the reservation for at least one year after she wins the title. School will be taken into consideration.
  4. As Miss Warm Springs, she will always maintain and present herself in a proper and responsible manner throughout her term, as will her alternates.
  5. If for some reason Miss Warm Springs cannot meet her obligations, her alternate will represent the tribes.
  6. Be able to represent the tribes by traveling, being involved in other Pageants, Social Events, Intertribal business/social events, Public Relation functions and whenever necessary, for one year during her reign.
  7. Must be dedicated and willing to learn!
  8. If the contestant holds another title, she must attend and represent The Confederated Tribes as Miss Warm Springs if the Tribes are financing a particular trip/event.

Contestants will be judged on the following:

  1. Knowledge of the reservation and the tribes: Warm Springs, Wasco and Paiute.
  2. Poise, personality and beauty, speaking ability and appearance.
  3. Knowledge of the traditional foods, ceremonies, clothing, crafts and social activities.
  4. (Limited) Knowledge of some state/national governments/issues.
  5. Knowledge of Tribal history.
  6. A typed essay of "Why I want to be Miss Warm Springs."
  7. Completed official application form.
  8. Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood/Tribal Id.

Contestant General Information:

  1. Contestants are responsible for all props, visual aids, recordings, etc.
  2. Optional: give some interesting fact about yourself for publicity. This could include hobbies, clubs, school/community activities, honors awarded, etc.
  3. Contestants will be judged in traditional tribal dress and modern attire during pageant. A panel of judges will conduct individual interviews that will be announced/aired on KWSO.

Contestant Awards:

  1. Full beaded crown, Fancy/Dance Shawl and Buckskin Beaded Banner will be awarded.
  2. Confederated Tribes will finance all trips for Miss Warm Springs.
  3. Other prizes.
